Despite misconceptions, we all know women are indeed naturally strong! Bani J is one Indian fitness icon who exemplifies that stereotypes are for the weak. This becomes especially true when the body is taken care of and becomes fit and healthy. In which case, you as a woman can really be anything you aspire to be.
We at FabFit know how off-putting stereotypes can be. As such, join us as we take a look at how Bani J broke the stereotype and paved open the doors for strength training for women.
Bani J and Strength Training
Bani J or Gurbani Judge, better known as VJ Bani, is an Indian fitness icon and celebrity who became the first runner-up for Bigg Boss 2016, a popularly debated reality show. She was the usual type of female celebrity actress with the petite body frame and beautiful face.
This is related to the typecast stamped upon women when it comes to body shape and strength in general. Like what Bani J mentioned on her Instagram, the general labels put on women include common statements such as these:
- Girly girls should not lift weights
- Lifting weights equate manliness
- Women should only do locomotor activities like cardio
- Girls who have large muscles may be on steroids
- Too many muscles for any woman is ugly
However, Bani J broke this stereotypical outlook towards women and fitness when she herself started lifting weights and developed strength. Today, she became a symbol of strength training for women; a perfect example of how you as a woman can break the stereotypes that revolved around strength training for women for decades. She has really revolutionized the way Indian women thought of strength and fitness.
But how exactly did she do that? Well, she achieved it by following a 5-point fitness mantra which involved the following:
Coffee consumption plays an important role in her pre-workout diet. By sipping a cup of coffee before working out, she can increase her metabolism level, which in turn helps her shed extra pounds while at the gym. She mentions drinking 2 cups of coffee every single day.
Bani J knows the importance of keeping herself hydrated at all times. This is particularly helpful to soothe muscle pains right after an intense workout.
Her daily diet involves a dose of protein-rich foods such as chicken, eggs, and fish. Also, she advises vegan women to prefer paneer and tofu as a reliable source of protein.
Bani J states that consuming carbohydrates is essential to achieve a fit body. In fact, she mentioned that she can’t live without a dose of carbs in her diet which can be obtained from brown rice, oats, and sweet potato
For Bani J, oats can give her enough fiber content that will help lower levels of bad cholesterol in the body. In fact, she eats them almost every day.
Workout and Diet Plan
Bani J’s workout plan includes lifting weights, something which is often considered too much for women. She’s never afraid of developing extra muscles and loves the way her body has transformed over the years.
When it comes to diet, hers basically consists of six meals a day, of which three are consumed before she hits the gym. This, however, isn’t based on the dal-chawal-roti diet only. In the morning, her meal includes oats, blueberries, strawberries, and a whey protein shake.
Most women are often tied to stereotypes that are set by people from years past. However, you don’t have to be one of them. Like Bani J, you can have a stronger body by committing yourself to strength training.
