The cricket maestro has a well-set routine to maintain his fitness levels. In this article, we’ll take a sneak peek into the regime that creates magic for Virat Kohli.
It was a chance conversation with Duncan Fletcher, former coach of Indian cricket team, that planted the idea of fitness in Virat Kohli’s mind. Fletcher pointed out that physical fitness was necessary for mental strength. To achieve that, one needs to set a training pattern that is inclusive of what you eat, how healthy you are, and how fit you need to be.
Kohli remembered Fletcher’s words while he struggled during the Indian Premiere League of 2012. In an interview, he recalled having horrible training along with a poor lifestyle and mindset. So, after the season ended, Kohli decided to revamp his health and fitness to better his performance.
At that time, Kohli was 11-12 kgs heavier than he is now. But the cricketer realized he couldn’t look like that if he was to be taken seriously as a professional cricketer.
