The thing about social media is that it be the biggest distraction or it can be powerful enough to keep one updated on what is latest out there. Following the league of ASL ice bucket challenge that spread like wild fire in 2014, 22 pushup challenge can be appropriately referred to as its Viral Echo. While the ice bucket challenge was a charity event that raised as much as $115 million in 2014, which helped those suffering from the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the 22 pushup Challenge is yet another charity event people are raving about!
The official site states:
“22KILL works to raise awareness to the suicide epidemic that is plaguing our country (US), and educate the public on mental health issues such as PTS. 22KILL also serves as a resource for veterans, and continues to build on its network of like-minded organizations to be able to connect veterans with programs and services in their local area. Funds raised through merchandise sales and donations are used to support partnered organizations who offer programs focusing on veteran empowerment, mental health treatment, and therapy/counseling for veterans and their families.”
It is being speculated that about 83,00,000 lakh pushups have been registered, which makes it approximately 3,60,000 individuals who have taken this challenge up and further nominated others to take it up. The chain is picking up and from celebrities to veterans to ordinary people, everyone is joining the fray.
If you are thinking how to do it, this is how: Just like every other challenge, you can simply record a video of you doing the 22 pushup challenge for 22 days and post it on any social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) and nominate three of your buddies. The good thing about the challenge is the organization is not looking for perfect 22 pushups for 22 days. So those of you, like us, who were thinking ‘how would we do it’, don’t fret. The organization says,
“Whether it’s 1 or 100 in a row, we will accept them however they come. They can be assisted (on your knees), incline (on a desk/wall), or if you physically are unable to do any, we’ll even take air pushups. They all count towards the goal”
Phew! We at Team Fabfit think we could totally bring this on, what do you think?
